To enhance business transparency, compliance, performance and scalability
Sun Microsystems has released new versions of Sun Role Manager software and Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition, offering organisations updated tools to manage their identity portfolio. The company claims that customers will benefit from enhanced business transparency and compliance, simplified access controls, and better performance and scalability.
The added features of Sun Role Manager 5.0 software will allow IT and business managers to govern the definition, assignment and enforcement of access within their organisations. Closed-loop remediation and rule lifecycle management feature allows to offer enterprises an automated set of tools for reviewing user access, removing inappropriately assigned access, andshowing auditors how and why access to data and applications was assigned.
In addition, the new version of software allows organisations to test scenarios to determine the impact changes on the access assignment process before they are implemented. It also provides users with a web-service interface for remote execution of rule assignment and separation-of-duty (SOD) rules.
The company claims that the new version has been optimised to improve performance by more than three times when compared to its predecessor. In addition, this release provides improved authentication and modification performance by 60%, allowing customers to accelerate their applications without changing one line of code.
Daniel Raskin, chief identity strategist of Sun Microsystems, said: “Companies are looking for better ways to achieve and maintain compliance, as well as extend their identity management solutions to the extranet.
“Advanced technologies available in Sun Role Manager software and Directory Server Enterprise Edition will help our customers scale their businesses, while protecting millions of users and hundreds of applications without headaches.”
