Bohemia, New York-based Symbol Technologies Inc says it has recieved a $1.4m payment from Opticon Inc in settlement of damages arising from infringement of Symbol’s basic patents on hand-held laser scanners: the agreement reached with Opticon, a subsidiary of Opto-Electronics of Japan, calls for it to become a value-added reseller of Symbol’s barcode-reading products.
