Telefonica Moviles SA has issued a claim against rivals Vodafone Espana and Amena with the telecoms regulator CMT, according to a report in the Financial Times.
In its submission, Telefonica apparently claims that those rivals are unduly delaying the mobile number portability (MNP) process, which enables mobile subscribers to take their number with them if they change provider. But Vodafone has reported Telefonica for providing inaccurate MNP figures, the newspaper reported.
Telefonica, meanwhile, has accused Vodafone of unduly denying MNP close to 10,000 subscribers per month since the summer.
Meanwhile, in the case of Amena, Telefonica has accused its rival of obstructing MNP with a malfunctioning web site, designed in theory to enable users to switch carriers and retain their numbers automatically, but allegedly not working properly.
