Telia AB, Sweden’s state-owned telecommunications operator, claims to have become the first foreign operator to receive a license from the US Federal Communications Commission, which gives it full operating rights in the US market. It says it already has offices in New York and Washington with its own transatlantic capacity and is rapidly making a name for itself in the US, and asserts that no other country is as open for competition and that has contributed to the Commission’s decision to give Telia full access.
