TietoEnator Corp., the Nordic region’s largest indigenous IT services supplier, has said it will be using security technology manufactured by Thales to secure the national payment card data processing services used by commercial banks in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Thales HSM 8000 is a server-based hardware security module or HSM that can be used to provide the cryptographic functions to secure a range of financial applications. Hardware security modules provide cryptographic services to security enabled applications via TCP/IP connections.
The HSM 8000 supports digital signatures and certificates. The Racal division of Thales now known as Thales e-Security competes in this market with the likes of nCipher plc with its PayShield HSM, as well as SafeNet Inc., the company that last year bought Rainbow Technologies Inc.
