Despite indicating that IBM Corp is likely to renege on the commitment to maintain the dividend given only a month ago, John Akers said late Tuesday I have not given any thought to stepping aside – I believe our track is the right one management and the IBM board supports me; when asked if he felt personally responsible for IBM’s current problems, Akers assured the analysts and journalists that he does. I certainly personally feel a great responsibility, and I can assure you my colleagues feel the same way, the IBM chairman said.
