In December, Unicom Seminars will run an Open Systems for Europe: Towards 1992 event, in collaboration with our sister publication, Unigram.X. The event includes a focus on user procurement strategies and case studies alongside discussions of the industry adoption of standards. Speakers include Olivetti’s Vittorio Cassoni, ICL managing director Peter Bonfield and EEC director of Informatics Walter de Backer. Warren Greaves of the Department of Trade and Industry describes UK Government programmes to develop open systems; and user issues will be presented by the UK local authorities, the Central Computer & Telecommunications Agency, the National Health Service and the Abbey National Building Society. Peter Morgan, IBM UK director of corporate services, Bull Directeur de la prospective Emanuel de Robien, and Unisoft managing director Jeremy Thomas are some of the industry speakers. The seminar runs from December 6 to 8 at the Mount Royal Hotel, Marble Arch, London.
