Glasnost or no, they certainly have a way with titles in the Soviet Union: one of the party of six who visited MicroPro International Corp the other day (CI No 991) was Dr Alexei Samoilov, who rejoices in the title of deputy director for Foreign Relations at the Institute of Problems in Information of the USSR Academy of Sciences – but then pre-Glasnost, they did have a few problems in information, such as deciding what was a decent interval to allow to elapse before telling the world that the First Secretary of the Communist Party had died.
