United Benefit Advisors, an alliance of 140 independent benefit advisory firms, is rolling out UBAWellnessWorks, a wellness and disease management program available to employers.
The program utilizes services and resources to deliver a web-based platform to enable employees to better manage their own health and that of their families. The program also offers a 24-hour NurseLine, a telephonic WellCoach program, and an integrated disease management capability.
All employers, regardless of size, can now genuinely help their employees manage their health more effectively, lower future plan costs, and realize notable increases in workforce stability and productivity, said David LoCascio, United Benefit Advisors’ (UBA) co-founder.
The new program is a response to employers who believe wellness programs that incorporate individual health risk assessments, coupled with expanded chronic disease management programs, are an effective means of achieving long-term healthcare cost containment.
Employers’ perception regarding the cost-containment potential of comprehensive wellness and chronic disease management has reached a tipping point, said Dan Hindman, VP of group benefit services. The focus for many employers has clearly shifted to preventing and managing employee health rather than solely cutting benefits and/or increasing employee contributions.
