Tandem Computers’ Ungermann-Bass Inc in Santa Clara says it has completed installation of the first phase of a high-speed Fibre Distributed Data Interface backbone network at Microsoft Corp’s world headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It will support more than 20 Ethernet subnets, serving 6,000 employees at the 11 building campus. The next step will be to add bridges to IBM’s Token Ring Network as well as to Ethernet.
