Things are looking brighter on the US Sprint Communications front: United Telecommunications Inc, the Kansas City, Missouri company that will buy a further 30.1% stake in the business in January from its partner GTE Corp, taking it up to 80.1%, says that pre-tax losses at the long-distance phone firm should be down to no more than $35m in the third quarter, against a $165m pre-tax loss in the year-ago period.
