US Robotics Corp, Skokie, Illinois yesterday announced that it had acquired Amber Wave Systems Inc for about $40m in shares. The privately-held Acton, Massachusetts company makes workgroup local area network switches. The company’s AmberSwitch combines cut- through and store-and-forward switching capabilities. Amber Wave co-founder Curtis Gridley has become director of switching technology at US Robotics, and another co-founder Paul Chieffo has also taken a senior technical position.
