As expected, Unix Systems Laboratories Inc last week announced that it was joining X/Open Co Ltd under the new technical membership structure the consortium put in place in October: it says it will be taking full advantage of the newly established Integrator Buyout Option, which will cost $150,000, and will be participating in all X/Open Co technical programmes to influence future standards; it says it intends to put its initial efforts into the Kernel & Commands, Security, Networking, Internationalisation, transaction processing, System Management and Test Groups.
