Australian IT services company UXC Ltd has acquired local Oracle consulting firm Red Rock Consulting Pty Ltd. Under terms of the deal, UXC will pay an undisclosed sum to acquire a 100% stake in Sydney-based Red Rock, which claims to be the largest Oracle consulting firm in Australian and New Zealand.
UXC believe the deal will enable Red Rock to pursue an acquisition strategy that would include the takeover of two Australian technology companies in the next 12 to 18 months.
Red Rock, which employs 90 consultants across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Auckland, provides services including Oracle application development, bespoke application configuration and selective outsourcing services around Oracle tools.
The company counts firms such as Vodafone Australia, Vodafone New Zealand, Fujitsu Xerox, Diageo and Manpower among its customers.
The news comes at a time when the Australian services market is experiencing significant consolidation as local providers attempt to scale up to compete against larger global competitors such as IBM Global Services, CSC, and EDS.
