Late last week, we hear, Vodafone Group Plc was busy rounding up a dozen or so of its Groupe Speciale Mobile Orbitel cellular phones to hand out to the heads of government at the Edinburgh Summit over the weekend: the company must also have rushed in a base station, because according to the latest GSM coverage map, the service does not reach north of Preston; Vodafone was no doubt hoping for pictures at the end of Summit photocall, but the cellular phones will likely have proved to heavy and bulky for that.
