With integrated ethernet gateway for low-latency bridging
Voltaire has unveiled a 40Gb/s InfiniBand switch with a built-in low latency ethernet gateway for bridging traffic to and from ethernet-based networks.
According to Voltaire, the Grid Director 4036E features 34 non-blocking 40Gb/s InfiniBand ports (delivering 2.72 Tb/s), less than 100 nanoseconds of port-to-port latency, and two 1 or 10 Gigabit ethernet ports bridging traffic in less than two microseconds. It combines the InfiniBand clustering and storage access in one device and is designed in a compact 1U device.
The new offering includes an InfiniBand switch, an embedded subnet manager, and a built-in hardware-based low latency ethernet gateway, the company said.
The Grid Director 4036E enhances the market data feeds by mapping it to hardware-based InfiniBand multicast. Its built-in gateway bridges the InfiniBand cluster to 10 Gigabit ethernet storage providing bandwidth for each node accessing the storage and reduces the overall cost by eliminating the need for a dedicated storage network. Designed in a 1U form factor, the switch is suitable for co-located low-latency trading environments, the company said.
