Volkswagen, Google and graphics chipmaker nVidia are working on a prototype vehicle which will feature a three-dimensional in-car navigation system that would provide drivers with a top-down view of their route.
The system will allow drivers to identify their position in relation to the surrounding topography, especially in urban areas.
The companies involved are promising the system will be depicted with both depth and accuracy.
The navigation tool will maintain a dynamic database of restaurants, dealerships, gas stations and other points of interest that can be overlaid directly onto the user’s monitor.
