Misys Healthcare Systems has reported that Wake Heart and Vascular Associates, a cardiology practice in eastern North Carolina, has selected Misys ‘EMR 8.0’ for its 10-location, 24-cardiologist organization. With the new system in place, Wake Heart will realize savings in dictation and transcription fees.
The Misys system selection was prompted by the Bush administration’s mandate to provide electronic health records to all citizens by 2014. After a two-year search, Wake Heart selected the newest version of Misys EMR to streamline clinical workflow.
With the customized Misys EMR system in place, templates and shortcuts eliminate the need to enter repetitive information that is not pertinent to a particular patient or procedure, such as a stress test.
Typically, cardiologists at the practice see between 25 and 35 patients per day. Before Misys EMR, they spent two hours each day finishing paperwork and 10 minutes generating each patient report. With Misys EMR, paperwork will take half an hour, reducing time spent by 75%. Furthermore, each cardiologist at the practice can individualize the templates to meet his or her unique needs and preferences. This guarantees that charts and paper work are finished promptly and patient information is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible in all 10 locations.
