White goods manufacturer Whirlpool Corp has signed an outsourcing deal with Accenture Ltd that will see the IT services vendor manage Whirlpool’s SAP applications over the next five years.
Accenture will provide maintenance and support services for SAP applications related to demand chain, supply chain, HR, and finance, at Whirlpool’s operations in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. The size of the deal has not been disclosed.
The deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies that has seen Accenture manage Whirlpool’s SAP applications in Latin America since 1998.
Accenture will find itself working alongside IT services rival Convergys Corp, which won a $240m deal with Whirlpool last July to provide human resources outsourcing services including payroll processing, benefits administration, and workforce planning.
It is interesting that Whirlpool has decided to use two different suppliers to handle its HR software applications and its HR processes, as most of the big HR outsourcing engagements signed to date have seen a single vendor manage both elements.
