The first quarter of this year saw a 30% increase in the uptake of workstations and a doubling in systems based on Windows NT, according to Dataquest Inc. The market, which doubled, is still dominated by Sun Microsystems Inc which has a 33.2% share when it comes to shipments of units. Cheaper NT systems accounted for 23.6% of the market, making up 12.4% of overall revenue; Unix shipments grew by 10%.
