California-based programmable logic supplier Xilinx Inc has started building a new site for its corporate headquarters that will enable the company to double its staff numbers. The new $31m site in San Jose will be 180,000 square feet when it is completed, housing 600 new staff. Xilinx currently employs around 1,000 staff in California, 1,400 across the world, and is anticipating major growth. Xilinx reported 1997 profits up 11% at $16.4m on revenue up 8% to $611.5. When the new site is complete, it will house executive, corporate, sales and marketing staff.
