Net income rose to $12.1m compared with net loss of $8.4m for same quarter of fiscal 2008
Zarlink Semiconductor has reported a net income of $12.1m, or $0.09 basic earnings per share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2009 ended December 26, 2008, compared with a net loss of $8.4m, or $0.07 basic earnings per share, in same quarter of fiscal 2008.
The company has posted revenue of $53.8m for the third quarter of fiscal 2009, compared with revenue of $48.6m in the third quarter of fiscal 2008.
For the first nine months of fiscal 2009, the company posted a net income of $20.4m, or $0.15 per basic share, compared with a net loss of $29.3m, or $0.25 per basic share, in the same period of fiscal 2008. The company’s revenue for the first nine months of fiscal 2009, increased to $176.1m from $128.8 in the same period of fiscal 2008.

We have taken advantage of our cash holdings to strengthen our long-term financial position and enhance shareholder value, and will maintain firm cost control and are adjusting as necessary to guide Zarlink through this difficult market.
