Includes message session relay protocol support, denial-of-service attack protection and overload control for IM
Acme Packet has launched a series of new capabilities for its Net-Net Session Director (SD) session border controller (SBC) in support of the GSMA Rich Communication Suite (RCS) and SIP-based interactive communication services for 3G mobile access networks.
The company said that the RCS offering features its Net-Net SD deployed at the access and interconnect borders of the SIP or IMS service network. It provides control functions to deliver interactive communications voice, video and multimedia sessions over the 3G IP RAN.
The company claims that its control functions satisfy requirements in five areas such as security, service reach maximisation, service level agreement (SLA) assurance, revenue and cost optimisation, and regulatory compliance.
According to Acme Packet, the new features enhance the security and control functions for RCS service delivery and increase the capacity of both RCS application servers and Acme Packet SBCs. The specific enhancements to the Net-Net OS include message session relay protocol (MSRP) support; denial-of-service attack protection and overload control for IM and presence; differentiated, service-based routing policies for presence, IM, video and voice; session replication for lawful intercept of multimedia communication; and support for millions of subscribers and IM sessions.
