Alcatel-Lucent has agreed to acquire US-based service assurance consulting and integration firm ReachView Technologies for an undisclosed sum, in order to expand its professional services consulting practice.
The French telecoms giant hopes that, specifically, the acquisition will enhance its operations support systems and business support systems and software integration, enabling it to deliver advanced service assurance solutions to carriers, and industry and public sector customers.
The acquisition is in line with Alcatel-Lucent’s strategy of consolidating its position in the growing network assurance and monitoring market. According to research by Dittberner Associates, the network/service assurance and remote network testing and monitoring market is expected to grow from $2.8bn in 2005 to $3.7bn in 2010 at a CAGR of 5.6%.
Commenting on the acquisition, Andy Williams, president of the services business at Alcatel-Lucent, said: Together we will be able to offer carriers the premier consulting and integration expertise they are looking for, no matter where they are located.
Alcatel-Lucent said that the combination of the two companies, which is expected to be completed by April 2008, will create a total consulting practice that will help operators to isolate, prioritize, and resolve network and server issues through root cause isolation and resolution management.
