News: Real-time notifications on Facebook Messenger will offer product and service notifications and helpful reminders to card members.
American Express has announced its plans to give customers receive real-time notifications via Facebook Messenger.
According to the plan, when American Express Card Members sign up for notifications they will be notified about their purchases and important information about card benefits and services related to those purchases through an Amex bot for messenger.
A card member buying an executive class airline ticket could receive information about the presence of a lounge in the airport or recommendations of restaurants or hotels at the destination, for example.
American Express Digital Partnerships & Development vice president Dave Wolf said: "As a long-time partner of Facebook, we’re thrilled to be working together to create an innovative experience for our Card Members on Messenger.
"We know our Card Members appreciate the convenience of receiving information from Amex on digital platforms where they’re already spending time. The concept demoed today shows how we could help them stay on top of their purchases and take advantage of their Card benefits.
"The scale and flexibility of the Messenger platform makes it a powerful channel for us to explore new ways to connect with Card Members."
American Express has plans to launch a pilot Amex bot for messenger in the coming months for eligible card members in the US.
