Social networking app 6Tribes connects people based on their interests.
A new social networking app which connects people based on their interests rather than their existing social groups, has been launched in London.
Unlike other social networking sites that focus on user’s existing social groups, 6Tribes focuses upon groups that reflect users’ interests and lifestyles to expose users to new content and people who share common interests.
According to 6Tribes CEO and creator of BBC iPlayer, Anthony Rose, 6Tribes pulls data from various content in a user’s device such as Facebook likes, music on their phone and the places they have visited, to place them into the right Tribe.
Rose added: "Once you’re a member of a tribe, you can connect with people who get what you’re into, be it fashion or travelling the world – people who understand you. You have a place where you belong."
After joining tribe, users can share their ideas, and post articles, images, and ‘upvote’ content to express their interest.
Rose said: "Our research made it clear that people are looking to connect around lifestyles, ideas and topics, and an alternative to the increasing amount of irrelevant content filling their news feed in existing social networks.
"The next evolution of social networking will come from this desire. 6tribes is the first social network to deliver on this."
