BT to interconnect about 900 BASF sites in more than 80 countries
BT has been selected by the chemical group BASF as an international partner for networked IT services.
As per of the contract that runs for over seven years for a total value of around EUR200m, BT will interconnect about 900 BASF sites in more than 80 countries.
The UK based telecom company will also provide IP telephony and local network services (Managed LAN Services) at 300 sites in North and South America as well as in Asia for BASF.
BT will also network the sites of the chemical company Ciba that BASF acquired.
The high-performance secure network will enable the chemical group’s employees around the world to communicate and access business-critical IT applications over the network.
BASF CTO Fareed Mohammed said as a global company, they were looking for a partner who is able to provide consistent standards and reliable service delivery on a global scale.
BT Global Services president Global Commerce Bas Burger said the new order from BASF further increases BT’s already substantial footprint in process manufacturing and underscores their commitment to supporting their clients in Asia, Latin America and other emerging markets.
