Selects 350,000-line VDSL2 equipment for its high-speed FTTx deployments
ZyXEL Communications, a broadband access services provider, said that Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom has selected its 350,000-line VDSL2 equipment for its high-speed FTTx deployments. This is the fifth consecutive year ZyXEL has been awarded such a contract from Chungwa Telecom.
With the launch of its 20MBbps downstream FTTx services, Chungwa Telecom is planning to roll out the 50MBps FTTx service in the second half of 2010 to facilitate value-added applications such as information security, cloud computing, energy saving, as well as high-definition audio and video services, the company said.
Shun-I Chu, CEO of ZyXEL, said: “We are gaining market momentum in Taiwan by participating in the construction of all major networks such as FTTx and even WiMAX.
“With the experience we are acquiring by working alongside world-class service providers, we are aiming at elevating network quality while simultaneously offering many emerging online applications to customers in Taiwan.”
