Telematics and mobile services to enhance the supply chains
DHL and T-Systems, a corporate customer division of Deutsche Telekom, have signed a three-year contract to use their expertise to raise efficiency in supply chains via technologies such as telematics and mobile services.
The companies will set up concepts, conduct tests and demonstrations as well as launch pilots in co-operation with other partners. T-Systems intends to use the initiative to share Deutsche Telekom’s technological expertise in order to develop services for Deutsche Post World Net’s logistic and postal customers.
One key focus of the partnership will be on mobile services. As part of the project, the two companies will explore how mobile technology can be used to improve processes at DHL’s parent company Deutsche Post World Net or contribute to the convenience and availability of the group’s products and services.
The companies also expect to discover new information and communication trends and get a chance to closely examine their impact in the field of logistic or postal services.
Reinhard Clemens, CEO of T-Systems, said: T-Systems plans to bring its extensive know-how regarding innovations and new technologies into the partnership. By doing that, we will support Deutsche Post’s efforts to constantly optimize their services.
