News: Google+ has more than 2 billion users.
Google has redesigned its Google+ social network to become more mobile-friendly and make life easier for users.
The initial area of focus of the redesigned version is Communities, which was introduced in 2012 to compete with Facebook.
Google said that an average of 1.2 million new people join a Community every day.
The next focus is on Collections, which was unveiled in May. The feature allows users to group posts into topic-based sections.
Google said in a blog post, "We’re starting to introduce a fully redesigned Google+ that puts Communities and Collections front and centre. Now focused around interests, the new Google+ is much simpler."
The revamped version appears to be in beta mode, with Google allowing users to opt-in to the new design on the web, , Android and iOS.
Google+, which was launched in 2011, has more than 2 billion users.
