Google News gets service error message
Following on from the widespread outage approximately a week back, Google suffered another service outage that hit users worldwide.
Monday morning between 8.35 am EDT and 10 am EDT, Google News service went down and the users received a 503 service error message.
The site was not displaying pages correctly and the links were pulling service error messages. Reportedly, the service interruption lasted for about 1.5 hours. The outage has been reported by users from California, UK, Australia and India.
The glitch happened right after the bigger outage last Thursday, which affected most Google services.
Google responded saying: Earlier today, Google News was temporarily unavailable for some users. Beginning at around 5:35 AM, Pacific Time, some users began experiencing slower-than-usual service from Google News, and between approximately 6:25 AM and about 7:00 AM, Pacific Time, a small percentage of users saw a 503 server error, along with a message to try their requests again later. This issue has now been resolved.
We know how important Google News is to our users, so we take issues like this very seriously. We apologise to those users who were affected.
