The call-to-action option has been introduced on link ads and pages.
Facebook has introduced a new Donate Now call-to-action option, with users now able to make donations to nonprofits.
The new button on both link ads and pages is part of the company’s plans to help non-profits in expanding their presence on the social networking site.
Facebook said in a post: "Now, it’s easier than ever for nonprofits to connect with people who care about their causes and encourage them to contribute through the website of their choice."
When a user clicks on the button, they will be first notified that the non-profit is not affiliated or endorsed by Facebook.
The users will then be redirected to the organisation’s external site in order to complete their donation.
The button will be integrated into mobile and desktop and will also appear in sponsored posts.
Facebook first rolled out a Donate button in late 2013 with a few partners such as the American Cancer Society and The Red Cross.
For those partners, the company allowed users to put in their credit card data directly on the site. The option is now open to charities that it is not partnered with.
