Huawei to plan and manage Telefónica UK’s core transmission, mobile access and network construction in the multivendor core network
Information and communications technology (ICT) applications provider Huawei has signed a five-year managed services agreement with Telefónica UK.
The agreement will see Huawei will plan and manage Telefónica UK’s core transmission, mobile access and network construction in the multivendor core network.
As part of the agreement, 56 Telefónica UK employees will transfer to Huawei in addition to 62 contractors while the transfers will comply with the terms and conditions of UK Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment ("TUPE") regulations.
The transferred Telefónica UK employees will work for Huawei’s managed services business to implement the planning and building of the core network.
Huawei will leverage the skills of the employees of Telefónica UK as it seeks to develop its managed services capabilities in the UK, as well as managing Telefónica UK’s core network.
