Netflix has added 4.9 million new subscribers to its service, boosting its first quarter revenue by 24% to $1.57bn.
The company said it added 4.9 million new members globally during the first quarter of 2015, which is more than the previously estimated 4.1 million users.
It managed to increase its global streaming membership to 62.3 million, with 2.3 million new members in the US alone and 2.6 million members in the international markets. This was more than the previous estimation of 2.25 million users.
The company gave credit to its improved content for the increase in subscribers in the US, plus the value of the overall service helped the company make a mark globally.
The company claimed that its DVD-by-mail business contributed $85m to its quarterly profit, with that service managing to gain 5.5m members in Q1.
Netflix also voiced its opinion on net neutrality saying: "We support strong net neutrality across the globe, allowing all consumers to enjoy the Internet access they pay for, without ISPs blocking, throttling, or influencing content in the last mile or at interconnection points.
"In the US, we have been vocal advocates for, and are pleased with, recent action by the FCC to assure an open and neutral Internet under its Title II authority."
