Airtel to resell Savvis managed hosting and cloud services to India-based clients
Savvis, a provider of cloud infrastructure and hosted IT offerings for enterprises, has joined forces with Indian telco Bharti airtel to launch a managed hosting and cloud computing initiative in India.
The agreement will expand access to Savvis’ wide range of managed hosting and cloud services to enterprises operating in or expanding into India.
Savvis will extend its infrastructure and service platforms in existing airtel data centers throughout India and establish local operations teams to support both local and global clients.
Savvis expects to begin the rollout of its services through airtel’s Bangalore data center in early 2011 with future expansion into other airtel data centers located in New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai.
In addition to providing data center facilities and bandwidth capacity and network support, airtel will resell Savvis managed hosting and cloud services to India-based clients.
Savvis chairman and CEO Jim Ousley said India is a huge potential market that requires the scale and local reach that only airtel with Savvis’ enterprise-grade cloud platform can deliver.
"Our global clients have been asking us for capabilities in India, and partnering with airtel enables us to provide the quality facilities and support both our clients and theirs require.
"This collaboration not only enables us to leverage airtel’s existing infrastructure and client reach, but also its reputation as one of the best known and admired brands in India," Ousley said.
