Home and Office Communication Devices subsidiary of Germany-based Siemens has launched Gigaset FlexConfig, a software tool that enables service providers to configure their Siemens broadband devices according to network specifications in less time.
According to Siemens, the application offers a conventional custom broadband device configuration to adjust functional parameters that fit the network, rather than adjusting the network to accommodate off-the-shelf broadband devices.
The software also enables service providers to distribute their own installation CDs to their customers with the gateway to access broadband access so that the subscribers can self-install the broadband devices for availing the service.
The company claims that the Gigabit FlexConfig is the only product offering auto-configuration for broadband and can be used by a service provider to configure their own broadband devices without the assistance of the manufacturer, saving both time and money.
The service providers can offer customized devices with configuration elements, including the ISP connection and home network parameters, security settings, gateway help reporting, color palette and logos to reflect the respective provider’s corporate identity.
The software is compatible with different Siemens broadband devices such as the SpeedStream 4100 DSL modem, SpeedStream 4200 USB DSL modem, Gigaset SE565 DSL gateway and the SE567/568 WLAN DSL gateways.
Siemens also offers other products under the Gigaset offerings in broadband services, including cordless phone, wireless LAN access points and gateway for service providers.
