Expects to increase its knowledge of the media domain for customers in other sectors of industry
IT services vendor Tieto has acquired for an undisclosed sum Finnish media company Fonecta’s IT infrastructure and its Numeropalvelu directory services and Finder applications.
The company said the business transfer will increase its specialized knowledge of the media domain for customers in other sectors of industry. It said the move will consolidate cooperation between both the companies in media-domain services.
As a result of the deal, 21 Fonecta staff in Helsinki, Tampere, Pori, and Lappeenranta will be transferred to Tieto. Three additional staff will transfer to Tieto’s partner, MBS Technical Services.
Timo Hiltunen, CEO of Fonecta, said: The business transfer will increase our critical technology knowledge base and create the right environment for the production of services and a reliable platform for growth for the future. Tieto offers those IT staff who are moving across to us greater opportunities to develop their skills and competence and improve the quality of service that Fonecta is buying. At the same time, the operation will become more efficient and could result in significant savings.
Ari Karppinen, executive vice president at Tieto, Finland, said: Fonecta is an important partner and producer of directory services for Tieto. We are developing our own range of services so that we can respond to the growing demands in digital services for new kinds of value-added multi-channel services.
