Businessmen say faster broadband is important for success
Businesses in the UK are unsure of what is in store for them in 2011, reveals a research.
The research was commissioned by Virgin Media Business to find out how business leaders across the country viewed their prospects this year.
The study, which surveyed 5,000 businesses across the UK, found that mid-sized businesses were the most optimistic, with 50% of them positive about their future. Smaller companies (48%) were more confident than large ones (46%).
Businessmen in Yorkshire (54%) are the most optimistic, while in Wales two thirds of them feel 2011 would be difficult. London stands in the fourth place on the optimism scale, with just 48% of business leaders confident about the year.
One in four business leaders feel that better roads and faster broadband would help them to succeed. While in London, one in four businesses think further investment into high-speed broadband will significantly improve their prospects in the year ahead.
Virgin Media Business managing director Mark Heraghty said with a greater pool of talent for directors to choose from coupled with the use of ever-advancing technology, businesses in the UK have the opportunity to propel themselves forward this year.
