US-based media house Belo has agreed to offer exclusive video content from its TV channels to internet giant Yahoo’s news portal.
According to the terms of the deal, Belo will provide Yahoo with local news clips from 13 of its 15 operating markets consisting of large or mid-sized cities in the southwest, northwest and mid-Atlantic region of the US.
In October 2007, Yahoo also entered into a similar deal with CBS to deliver local news from 16 CBS stations.
Alan Warms, vice president and general manager at Yahoo News said: Given the surge in demand for online video on Yahoo News and across the internet, this deal with Belo’s TV stations makes a lot of sense for our users.
Yahoo said that it will share the revenue generated from the advertisement on those clips with Belo. It also claimed that with this deal, it now covers 18 of the 25 major markets in the country.
