News: Cloud-based service is designed to run Big Data queries.
Microsoft has created an expanded Azure Data Lake.
The cloud-based service is designed for running queries on Big Data which is stored in its public cloud.
The service uses a query language that draws on the SQL query language and Microsoft’s C# programming language.
The expanded data lake includes a store which will make it easy for users to capture data of any size, type or speed, without forcing change to the application as the data scales.
It also includes Azure Data Lake Analytics, this is built on Apache YARN, which dynamically scales.
The service includes U-SQL, which offers scalable distributes query capabilities in order to analyse data in the store and SQL Servers in Azure as well as Azure SQL Database and SQL Data Warehouse.
HDInsight is also included, with open source analytics engines such as Hive, Spark, HBase and Storm.
