News: Company has increased the number of operating systems its import/export tool supports.
An Amazon Web Services API has been developed to provide its cloud users with greater pricing visibility.
The AWS Price List API will provide users with access to prices in both JSON and CSV form, with this being available to download as you need it, or notifications can be set up.
Notifications work through the Amazon Simple Notification Service and will inform customers every time a price is changed.
The goal of the service is to make it easier to report pricing information, which is important when both evaluating the cost-effectives of moving on-premise workloads to the cloud, and when existing customers look to budget and forecast pricing.
In the on-going cycle of updates and enhancements, AWS has added further capabilities to its VM Import/Export tool and the Management Portal for vCentre.
The management portal is now capable of importing multi-volume virtual machines into EC2. The portal will be capable of important any operating system image that is accepted by VM Import/Export, this includes multi-volume VMware images.
The company said: "The importing process creates Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) and EC2 instances."
The import/export tool has been given a broader line-up of operating systems that it can support. Additions include; SUSE/SLES 11-12, Oracle Enterprise Linux 6-7, Fedora 19-21 and Windows 10.
