Patch management made easier with automated solution.
Absolute Software today announced the release of Absolute Manage 6.8.
The latest edition of the Canadian company’s enterprise mobility solution, available now, includes enhanced patching technology to protect organisations from application vulnerabilities.
The automated patch engine detects and downloads missing patches. IT administrators can manage operating system patches for Mac and Windows devices, as well as a range of third-party applications. Once an update has received administrator approval, Manage 6.8 deploys and reports on the status of each patch.
The solution taps into the burgeoning application security market, which has attracted greater attention as mobile use, BYOD and enterprise app adoption become increasingly mainstream. Many organisations are taking a more focused approach to patch management and ensuring that the lifecycle of software assets are monitored.
The new release also contains other enhancements and customer feature requests.
"When software vulnerabilities remain unpatched, you’re leaving the door open for grave security risks to enter the enterprise," said Peter Frankl, VP & GM, client management solutions, at Absolute Software.
Frankl added: "By integrating an automated engine within Absolute Manage, IT can efficiently and proactively manage and fill these identified security gaps, reducing a broad range of security threats."
