Expected to be priced at almost half that of Apple iPad
Online retailer Amazon is expected to unveil its own tablet this week that is touted to compete with Apple iPad.
Analysts believe that the new tablet from Amazon stable can give a tougher challenge to Apple, which other companies such as Acer, Samsung and Research In Motion were unable to give.
The Amazon tablet with a seven inch screen is expected to be priced below Apple’s iPad will be a souped-up colour version of its Kindle e-reader.
According to analysts, it will be interesting to see that how the Amazon tablet performs in the already competitors’ occupied market of tablet.
Many big players such as Samsung and HP failed to have a greater share of the market which is dominated by Apple, which is expected to take 83% of the US tablet market share.
The cheaper tablet from Amazon is expected to do all the basic functions that one normally does on a tablet such as email, surfing web and watching videos, but may not feature a powerful processor or massive in-built storage sought by professionals.
According to analysts, the Amazon Kindle is most likely to sell at half the price of Apple iPad, which will be about $250 compared to Apple’s $499.
