Apple has acquired video listing start-up Matcha.tv, marking its second acquisition in Israel, in efforts to boost its TV recommendation service.
Matcha.tv’s video discovery app for iOS and the web offers listings of all films, TV shows, streaming video services and digital video stores including Hulu, Netflix, iTunes and Amazon.
The app also enables users to line up selected videos, log into social networking sites as well as offering video recommendations.
But the app was pulled from Apple’s App Store in May 2013, according to VentureBeat.
Apple has been expanding its presence in Israel since it’s first acquisition of Anobit, a startup that develops flash-based storage, in 2011.
Apple acquired low-power wireless chip developer Passif Semiconductor earlier this month and smartphone mapping application maker WiFiSlam for about $20m in March.
