It concerned S3 patents for texture compression
The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled that Apple’s products do not infringe on patents held by S3 Graphics, a company that was to be acquired by Taiwan-based HTC.
The ruling concerned S3 patents for texture compression which relate to applications for things like 3D gaming.
ITC in its ruling said, "Having examined the record of this investigation, including the administrative law judge’s final initial determination and the submissions of the parties and non-parties, the Commission has determined to reverse the administrative law judge’s finding of a violation of section 337 and find no violation."
Earlier in October, an ITC judge issued an initial judgment that Apple did not violate four HTC patents related to functions like power management and phone dialing.
