Capable of taking notes and drawing sketches on the device’s touch screen
Computer maker Asus has launched a digital notepad and e-book reader, Eee Note EA800, that the company says is capable of taking notes and drawing sketches on the device’s touch screen.
The Eee Note EA800 features an 8-inch glass screen with a matte finish, and it displays text and sketches only in black and white, without using a backlight, InformationWeek reported.
The new e-Reader supports an external Micro SD card for additional storage and comes with a 4 GB internal memory, which is enough to store 20,000 handwritten notes, or 10,000 e-books.
The new devices also features integrated 2-megpixel digital camera and a voice recorder, and has a battery back-up of 13.5 hours, with built-in Wi-Fi for accessing a limited number of online resources, such as e-book retailers and Wikipedia.
The launch of the new product indicates that Asus is looking to capture a share of the e-reader market during the holiday season, competing with Amazon.com’s Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook.
