After Australia’s High Court dismissed Apple’s plea to have a ban extended
Samsung will now be able to sell Galaxy 10.1 tablets in Australia ahead of Christmas, after Australia’s High Court dismissed Apple’s plea to have a ban extended.
Earlier, Samsung had won an appeal against a temporary ban on sales of its Galaxy devices in Australia, but Apple immediately won a stay of the order.
After the ruling, Samsung said in a statement that its Galaxy Tab 10.1 "will be available in stores in time for the Christmas shopping period."
Apple’s dispute with Samsung in Australia began after Apple accused the South Korean electronics company of copying its iPad and iPhone. Following a judgement against it Samsung halted sales of the Galaxy tablets. However, it went back to court to challenge the decision and won the right to resume sales.
The two companies are also engaged in a battle over smartphones and tablet in 10 countries, including Germany and the Netherlands where courts ruled in favour of Apple.
The date for a full hearing on all copyright claims has not been decided yet.
