Free open source standard, compatible with free virtualisation tools, and can be used for third-party PHP apps
Bitrix, a provider of social business communications, has unveiled new Virtual Appliance 2.0, a ready-to-use offering designed to run social collaboration and e-Commerce applications in VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Parallels Virtuozzo and Amazon EC2.
The new offering allows Bitrix Intranet and Site Manager to be installed on the same physical server and share it with other business-critical applications like e-mail, proxy or CRM.
The offering supports virtual environments, and contains pre-installed settings optimised for maximum performance and ease of use and management.
The company said the Virtual Appliance leverages on free open source standards, is compatible with free virtualisation tools, and can be used for third-party PHP applications.
In addition, virtualisation of social collaboration and e-Commerce applications brings extra value to SMBs with enhanced business continuity, agility and data security.
The new offering improves time-to-launch as applications don’t require deployment and configuration of OS or additional software; and greater availability and shorter disaster recovery time reduce risks associated with service downtime and data loss.
The offering also provides protection against the hostile environment of the web by leveraging on highly-secured sandbox and Bitrix PRO+PRO security framework.
Bitrix president Dmitry Valyanov said the availability of ready-to-use virtualised social collaboration and e-Commerce offerings encourages smaller organisations to consider switching IT infrastructure to a virtual environment.
