Discretix, a provider of embedded security and digital rights management solutions, has announced that its Content Protection for Recordable Media Client will be available for Access Linux platform, an integrated commercial-grade Linux platform designed for mobile phone and converged device markets.
Access, a provider of next-generation software for the mobile and beyond-PC markets, will include Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM) Client in Access Linux platform, offering mobile device manufacturers a security solution for premium content.
Discretix CPRM secures the distribution and use of music, video and other premium content on SD cards and mobile handsets. As a software-based security solution, CPRM Client eliminates the need for a dedicated hardware CPRM chip, reducing Bill of Materials cost and improving flexibility for mobile device original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Michimasa Uematsu, executive officer and senior vice president of engineering and development group at Access, said: With the increased use of premium content on mobile devices, both via download and storage cards, it’s critical for OEMs to have a content protection solution. Discretix is an effective solution to these problems. The flexibility of the Discretix CPRM Client, combined with its low power consumption and record of reliability, makes it an excellent choice for Access Linux platform.
