Follows six months of trial, since January 2013, for select number of people
Facebook is launching the new ‘Graph Search’ across North America, which is a precise search feature that allows users to find information and new connections on the site through key phrases.
The launch follows six months of trial, since January 2013, for select number of people, while the feature can now be accessed by all US users in several weeks.
The feature will allow users to perform specific searches about friends on the site, including the content shared by users, including pictures, personal information and links.
Facebook clarified that the information marked as private can still be viewed only by those permitted to.
Allowing users discover new music or films, or get restaurant recommendations from friends who have been there, the new feature is claimed to be a better way to discover friends having common interests.
The new tool will appears as a larger search bar at the top of each page and differs from web search as users must use phrases instead of keywords.
Facebook is planning to launch the mobile version of the new feature shortly.
